Amber Sheppard & Tubbs the Dog Present at East St. Tammany Business Alliance Summit

Once of our favorite things to do is to present continuing education lectures to Northshore small business owners. In true Amber & Tubbs fashion, we make our lectures engaging and fun. That must be why we were asked by Don Shea and East St. Tammany Business Alliance to present on Working Dog Laws for Small Businesses at their First Annual Business Summit.

I discussed the differences between assistance dogs like service dogs, emotional support dogs, and therapy dogs with leaders in our community. Of course I threw in lots of photos of Tubbs in costume and personal experiences but the crux of our presentation was to ensure business leaders and human resource managers were well educated and versed on service dogs in their establishments.

We think we are so funny. Slidell business lawyers can be funny, you know!

We wanted business owners and operators to know what they could, and could not, ask folx with service animals on their property. We also wanted to encourage proper staff training on service dog etiquette and standard operating procedures. Included in that is how you could appropriately ask a service animal, if out of control, to be removed from the premises without violating the ADA.
